Great post. Thanks for sharing. I bet your son had a blast being there with you. And having someone return to buy another comic after reading the first? Yeah, that feels wonderful.
I can totally relate to the experience of a customer coming up to my table, reading an entire comic, then leaving without buying anything. Like, dude, you just read something took me half a year to complete, could you at least leave a dollar on the table??
Glad you had a lot of fun! Sounds like it was a good show - even with the interesting experiences.
It's a tough balance to strike, but I find I get a lot of value from leaving my table to talk to the folks around the floor too. It's somehow different than going as an attendee when you can point back to your table - like an icebreaker that shows you're all in it together.
San Diego will be a lot of fun when you get there.
It was a good show! Small but it seemed to have a really good turnout for its size. Being my first experience at tabling, it was hard to know when would be a good time to get up and walk around. I eventually did, in the late afternoon, but didn't spend a lot of time chatting for fear of missing people who may have stopped at my booth. My next con will be IC3 next month in Connecticut, and there are LOTS of creators I want to meet, so I will have to leave my table at some point!

I hope you get another table soon.
Thanks very much! I'll be doing the Indie Comics Creator Con in Connecticut this March!

Yeah, I was a bit shocked, honestly. I would never do that and I guess I expected that of others.

I hope my advice was helpful!
It absolutely was helpful, Brian, thank you! I actually give you a shout-out in next week's post!
😊
Thanks for sharing! Glad you had fun!
Super cool man. Glad you had a good time!
Thanks!
Awesome. I hope that first customer/first Con experience turns out to be an origin story for a future comic creator.
Yeah! Wouldn't that be something?
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Absolutely my pleasure, Allan!
