Hello again!

I finished the final page for issue #3 yesterday, and you are one of the first people to see it! From now on, my Substack subscribers will see new pages a couple of days before I post them on my website, and other online venues!

Issue Three, Page Twenty-Two

Steamroller Man is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

This brings the total page count for issue #3 to 22 pages, which is much less than the page count of either of the first two issues (40 pages and 36 pages, respectively).

Originally, I had plotted this issue in essentially two halves - the second half would have caught readers up with what happened to Paige Wan and Sleep Tyke. Since the first part ended up at 22 pages, I thought that it could stand on its own. Click here to read the previous pages of issue 3!

This page was my homage to the “wall-climbing” scenes they would do in episodes of the 1960s Batman TV show.

That show is a big influence on Steamroller Man, and when I came up with this part of the story, I knew I wanted to have a scene where Steamroller Man and Night Knight climbed the wall like Batman and Robin. As I started to design the page, I found that a direct visual homage looked a bit flat, so I attempted to make things more interesting by placing my “camera” in a different spot.

This made it incredibly challenging to compose! I think it may be my most unconventional layout yet. If you are a paid subscriber, at the bottom of this post you will find some process pictures, a timelapse of my creation of the page, and a short text piece about the challenges I encountered while making it!
